About A Crafted Cottage

My name is Melissa Matthews Porter. I have been quilting since 2008. Along the way, I have met many strong women who have become my friends and mentors. I thank them for where I am today. When I moved to GA in 2017 I began working at my local quilt shop. It was there, I was given support and opportunities to grow.

Along my way to becoming a business owner I was able to attend the Handi Quilter academy and become a certified Handi Quilter technician and dealer.  So, in addition to owning and quilting on a Handi Quilter machine, I also can get you into your very own dream machine. I offer training on your new machine, and am able to service it through house calls. So, no worries about transporting it in  to a shop for service.

I have a shop in Suwanee, GA. where we sell fabric, kits, and quilting supplies, as well as have tons of fun together providing classes for you to hone your quilting and piecing skills.

I firmly believe that I can never stop learning, and everyone I come into contact with, has something to teach. It is my desire to use what others have taught me thus far, to help you in your journey as well!
